[synopsis] => Why do some immigrants get their legal residence, and others remain for many years without legal status, the right to work, and are unable to create a future for themselves or their family members. There is a reason some succeed, and others fail. The New Faces of America takes the reader through the immigration process, how some immigrants were determined to become residents and citizens, and applied for benefits the "right" way. Others, determined to get through the system at any cost, had their applications denied, and continue to struggle. The authors use real-life stories to explain exactly the correct procedures for applying for legal residence, but also show how those that have cheated ended up deported, or lost in the system as an illegal immigrant. How families suffer when procedures are not followed. Stories explaining to Americans why immigration is not about stealing tax money from our elderly, but about survival. All the programs are explained, the process, and the pride of America the authors have. The book is not about how to beat the system ,but why immigrants should respect it, do the right thing, and take steps toward living the American Dream.
