Description
In Kansas for the 1957 summer wheat harvest, two college students live on the farm and relate to the family. A neighboring farm experiences a wheat fire and the students respond with all the neighbors to put it out. The family who owns the farm where they are employed experiences difficulties. The teen age daughter is injured and receives treatment at the hospital where the doctor uncovers sexual abuse. Her father commits suicide. Through it all, the wheat has to be harvested.
