The Templeton family comes west and settles in the rugged and dangerous mining camp at Alder Gulch in the Montana Territory in 1863. they find the ruthless camp is besieged by murderous road agents and lawmen that are led by the corrupt Sheriff Henry Plummer. Hezekiah Templeton, the teenage son, and his friend, Isaac, find the lawless camp filled with intrigue and adventure. They befriend an old Indian that is surrounded by mystical Indian Spirits, and discover their fathers are dangerously involved with the local vigilantes.
