Four strangers came down the Raton Pass into New Mexico where they were promptly arrested by armed cowmen and jailed in the town of Stockdale. Two days later, the four were released when a dead man was brought to Stockdale and labeled the real horse thief. The story would have ended then and there, except that one of the men recognized the dead horse thief as his brother. How could he just ride away?
